Are you interested in being part of running a Beaver Colony for 6-8 year olds? Then being on a Beavers Team may be the place for you!

As part of a Beavers Team, you would take on a portion of the team’s tasks and assist the Beavers Team Lead. You can see what the team does below. If this role interests you or you’d like to know more, please get in touch.

Beaver Team Tasks

Plan and Deliver a great programme
  • Work with young people to plan and deliver a great programme, including nights away and adventurous activities
  • Help Beavers earn their top award – The Chief Scout’s Bronze Award
  • Find ways to continue to improve the programme
  • Tailor the programme to the needs of your Beaver Colony
  • Include community members to help run programme nights
Make sure there’s a great culture for all
  • Help young people and volunteers feel welcome and included, and make changes (when necessary) so the environment and activities are accessible for everyone.
  • Mentor volunteers in the team and help them develop, including Young Leaders.
  • Check volunteers behave positively and in line with Our Volunteering Culture.
Create a safe environment
  • Check the programme can run safely.
  • Make sure adult:child safeguarding ratios are always maintained and there’s a leader in charge for each session.
  • Create and review risk assessments, check there are first aid kits or supplies for all activities,
  • Review safety incidents and report them in the right way & report any safeguarding concerns directly to the UKHQ Safeguarding Team
