About Leeds Templars

Scouting in East Leeds, Garforth, Kippax, Allerton Bywater and surrounding villages.

Leeds Templars

We are a Scout District that is part of Central Yorkshire County made up of 12 Scout Groups, 3 Explorer Groups and a District Network Provision supporting young people from age 4 to 24 and beyond.

We are here to support Scout Groups and Young People spanning from North-East to East Leeds.

Old groups and new groups, from the city centre to rural areas, we aim for equal and accessible Scouting for everyone.

We have over 500 Young People at Leeds Templars and an amazing over 150 Volunteers that help them week in, week out – and these numbers are still growing.

The best part of Leeds!

If you ask us, we think this is the best part of Leeds to be a Scout!

From the amazing Temple Newham with over 1000 acres of forests, fields and wildlife to explore to sites like RSPB St. Aidans along the river Aire’s winding meanders. From the bustling city life of Leeds to the towns and villages surrounded by forest and farmlands, we’ve got a bit of everything!

What we do

In Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life and young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

As a District we support our groups and units to encourage local young people to do more, learn more and be more. Each week, we support our members by providing the opportunity to enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed and help our young people reach the top awards in Scouting.

Volunteers at Leeds Templars

Scouting would not be possible without the help of our amazing volunteers and parent helpers. From Cub Leader to District Lead Volunteer, we are all volunteers.

Remember to give an occasional thank you to everyone that helps, big or small for all of the amazing work they do.
